Sunday at Karancho

Not a typical Sunday for the family. Instead of spending my day early, drinking coffee, checking my Facebook, reading the news and waiting for the Pacquiao fight with Margarito, we decided to give our friends from Lipa, a tour around Cebu. So, it started with some last minute planning on Saturday night to where our best and not so expensive option to spend our Sunday at. Then we decided, Karancho Beach Resort.

The resort is not a place that you would most likely be if you have a huge budget to consume for a one-day outing but considering that we would just like to revisit the beach and enjoy the sun with the cool wind and with some very good company, then this suffices.

On the way there, we rented a van at SM City and paid 500Php for a one way ride. When we got there, I realized that there are some Public Utility Jeepneys passing by so this would cost us lower if we take this at the end of the day.

Here are some of the things that I can say about the resort.

Strengths:
- Very friendly employees. The guards and the people in their canteen is very welcoming and it was one thing that I noticed the moment we got there,
- Place is clean except outside the gate which is not a good view to invite guests.
- Sand is white but not something we can compare to the Boracay sand or Bantayan.
- Cheap Cottages which ranges from 500 which can accommodate 5-7 people. There's one that cost 1000Php which is more private because it's like a small nipa hut but no doors of course.
- They have some rooms also if you want to stay overnight and I never cared to ask about it.
- Safe because they have their own security personel.
- There are banca that you can hire for only 200 per hour if you want to go to Rock Island or at the back of the small man-made island of Maribago Blue Waters.

Opportunities:
- Space is a bit small and may easily get crowded.
- You would have to go farther out to the sea to swim because even if the tide is high, it still is very shallow and that's probably the reason why they have the banca for rent.
- Bathroom is free but shower cost 25Php. They should have given it for free since there was already an entrance fee of 50Php.
- The Nipa Roof on their cottages have holes and water came in when it rained.

Overall rating for this experience 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest. For an affordable resort, I would say it's a 7.

And by the way, you could always take a jeepney all the way to Parkmall, Highway or just at the Opon Mercado.
